IN MY DREAMS (poetry)
May 17, 2021
In my dreams I hear You call I see the writing On the wall Mysteries Unfold to me Showing me What soon will be Sometimes stories Of my past Explains things that I could not grasp Forward, backward All between You talk to me Lord In my dreams Showing me Just how You feel Bringing forth Some things so real Until I know You I can’t see Your loving kindness Good thoughts towards me You are my Father Love so deep Denied in this life But meant to be Pour out Your Spirit In this hour So hungry hearts Can know Your power Intimacy With God complete As we humble At Your feet Pure hearts cry Will sure be met Promises Will still be kept Just like Joseph In the prison groaned God had a plan To soon be shown Hold on now The hour here Things unknown Will soon be clear Rain from heaven Holy fire Will soon burn up All vain desire Return again To your first love Feel His closeness From above copyright 2017 Jean Chamblee
Simply Trust
May 7, 2021
SIMPLY TRUST If God is for us, who can be against us? He’s always on our side So never think to run away There’s nothing you have to hide Our Father loves our honesty He loves to help us grow He loves to give us grace and power So in the path we’ll go He has our interest best at heart There’s nothing He can’t see He’ll always lead us to the place In truth, that sets us free The hard thing is to trust Him To make sure we believe He’ll even help us in that task As long as we receive His perspective is far above Anything we can see So we are here to learn to trust Before we have to leave copyright 2021 Jean Chamblee Thomas
TRIAL BY FIRE (poetry)
April 13, 2021
Tear drops falling Down like rain Only God can See my pain In His arms I often lie Knowing He catches The tears that I cry Why He allows these things I do know It’s heat and fire That makes us to grow A glorious vision Of us He sees Like His own Son When the work is complete. copyright 2021 Jean Chamblee Thomas Romans 8:28 All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Zechariah 13:9 I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’ ”
IN HIS EYES I’M KNOWN
April 12, 2021
I am poured out Like water that flows Hoping somehow My life in Christ shows Wanting to bless Sometimes I fall short But I get up and try again His love to report Mercies are new Every morning they are Satan tries hard To remove mornings Star Battle upon battle In prayer I must go Thanking our Father For the Holy Spirits flow Without Him I am nothing Nor ever shall be But in His arms safely My soul shall be free He made me uniquely Like all of His own It makes me smile sweetly That in His eyes I’m known copyright 2017 Jean Chamblee Thomas
THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE (poem)
March 30, 2021
Don’t believe the little lie That says you’re nothing more Than all the sum of your mistakes That landed at your shore The tide rolls in , the tide rolls out And hope just disappears Emotions seem to swallow us The same thing year after year But don’t you know this very thing The Lord God gave you wings They’re hidden by the cloudiness The lies the enemy brings He gave you wings to lift you up To rise above the lies The kingdom of God is there for you By faith if you will try To move your eyes toward what He said The path that He has laid He’s planted hidden treasures For you to be arrayed Dressed in robes of righteousness Provided by His Son He waits for you to call to Him The battle He has won He waits for us to choose Him That’s how it must be done And when you do the cloud will lift When you can see His son Hope will arise as you seek Him out He will not disappoint He is alive this you will see Your head He will anoint This life is where we choose the path That we will walk upon God is a loving Father Our perceptions have been wrong Like I said the father of lies Satan is his name Has followed you since you were born To distract you is his game But deadly is the game he plays Our eyes must choose to see Listen to the words of God That lead us to be free Open up and talk to Him He’s waiting for your call Try a little faith and then A little light will fall He’s known you from the beginning You were the thought in His heart Though you may see another thing Like a caterpillar from the start Your cocoon is inside of Him If you will choose to trust When you come forth and His plan is done You are a piece of art Will you trust a little bit A tiny little ray Let that hope turn heavenward For You there’s a brand new day Dare to try, please think it through What have you to lose Lift up your eyes beyond the clouds He’s waiting for you to choose. copyright 2021 Jean Chamblee Thomas
REMEMBRANCE (poetry)
March 26, 2021
In my deepest darkest sin You looked at me with mercy You looked into my heart And saw what I could be In the place of such humanity Patiently you waited for me You gave me an acceptance Until I was ready to see You throw away all remembrance Of the sins I did commit But you kept a Book of memories Of the times when my candle was lit You remember all the bright times Ones I did probably forget Times when you saw my struggle To do the things you had said Oh remember my dear Savior I remember too How sweet you were in the morning Like the smell of fresh morning dew Like the desert after the rain When my time of trial came to an end You were always growing me up And You have always been my best Friend I can hear You rejoicing When I got the victory Choosing to walk in righteous ways From the devils grip getting free I can see you dancing The day that I almost gave up But you allowed me to re-commit And again You filled up my cup How it has been such a journey I can’t wait to look back with You To see things how you saw them All the ways that You brought me through I can hardly wait until heaven It can’t come too fast Replace the pain with so much joy Eternal peace at last copyright 2021 Jean Chamblee Thomas
CAPTURE A MOMENT OF NORMAL (poem)
March 8, 2021
Capture a moment of normal Don’t forget what’s important to see Those ones very dear that surround you The ones in your own family With a world that is in so much turmoil Easy to forget to believe That there’s still a few moments of normal Still a few moments to breathe So grab that grandbaby and hold her Bounce that toddler around on your knee Call a truce with your sister And treasure your own family Time is a gift swiftly fleeing So quickly it runs away So capture a moment of normal And by all means, ENJOY THE DAY!!! copyright 2008 Jean Chamblee Thomas
EVEN IN THE SMALLEST OF THINGS (poem)
February 28, 2021
It is even in the smallest of things That we can see the hand of God Don’t miss it in the shadows While looking for something large A soft whisper, A gentle touch A kitten’s whisker Can mean so much Don’t walk by and miss the signs A cardinal red of His blood reminds A blue bird sings of happiness Saying “Hey God has heard your hearts request” A puppy comes to cuddle your lap Just like it knew the sadness you have A gold fish comes to stare at you As if it knows what you’re going through Don’t miss the signs God is giving you The little things He does Don’t miss His heart that’s calling you Reaching out with His unfailing love A friend that calls you just in time Reminds you that He’s there Don’t miss that heartfelt compliment That says they like your hair Kindness flows like a river Come down from heaven above Even in the dark cold winter You can hear the coo of a dove Peace can nestle next to you In the form of a little child Or a cat that’s running all over you That can sometimes drive you wild Don’t miss the signs God is giving you The little things He does Don’t miss His heart that’s calling you Reaching out with His unfailing love copyright 2021 Jean Chamblee Thomas
Onward… (poetry)
February 20, 2021
I don’t feel so special today In fact I feel quite small Maybe that’s how you feel too With your back against a wall Cornered in by circumstance So far out of our control What can we do to break out free Crawl out of this big dark hole There is a way, a gift of sorts Given long ago That we can step right into Where liberty will flow Freedom from the world of guilt That weighs us down sometimes Freedom that is born of love A treasure hidden by Divine As we seek to find this out Asking God to show He’ll take you on a wonderful route For eyes that want to know God is good and always is The devil tries to stomp this out But light comes out for those that seek Destiny lets out a shout You can feel it, I know you can It’s buried beneath the snow The cold and dark the world piles on But truth lies in your soul Like a caterpillar you must fight Your way out of the cocoon Your Father waits to hear your cry Then empowers you to move He waits for your invitation That’s just how Father does roll He’s not into manipulation He wants to see you whole If you don’t know He’s cheering you on Then you don’t know Him well Just look at those He’s chosen They all have a story to tell Look at Mary, a prostitute, Delivered from the dark Became the first to see Him rise His choice of her was smart Peter was a fisherman Impulsive and full of self But when His life with Jesus was full He became part of the Book on our shelf Zacchieus was a cheating man A taxman that took too much But Jesus saw his heart that day And went to his house for lunch David was a shepherd boy Sitting in the fields But God chose him to be a king His life so honest and real Gideon was a chicken heart Afraid of everything But God gave him the power to lead To victory his people he did bring So now lets look at you and me Why is it failures we see? Cause that’s what the enemy wants of us His job is to cause us defeat The first of his lies is to turn us from God Make us think He’s who He is not God will never forsake us Once we’ve given Him our hearts Once we have invited Him in He’s always on our side Never to leave us, always there Whether we see Him our not You were made on purpose by Him Before you were in the womb He made you cause He wanted you And He’s coming back real soon So fight through all the discouragement Encourage yourself in the Lord Watch what your mind is thinking upon And with help you can turn this around His Word is so we can know who He is Read the story of His life Start with the gospel of John again And ask Him to open your heart You are so beloved And I guess so am I I battle with this daily It’s something we all have to fight So I say, yes God loves you And yes, He loves me too Soon this life will be over No more sorrow no gloom Keep your head up, looking up And looking to His ways You have been chosen to witness this The very end of Days It is an honor to be here now The Book says the last shall be first He knows what it is we must endure To be a part of new birth New heaven, new earth is waiting for us So we must take our place Keep our hearts from sinking low And looking into His face Keep the faith I know it’s hard But yes, we must endure We know there is a kingdom for us So beautiful, clean and pure No more pain or sorrow No more brokenness of soul In heaven we will be given a newness In heaven our hearts will be whole. Don’t look back and stay in the past Onward you must go Choose to look forward and you will see God chose YOU, and now you know! copyright 2021 Jean Chamblee Thomas
HE THOUGHT YOU WERE WORTH IT (poetry)
February 5, 2021
Slowly, with purpose He walked through the streets Each step He was taking Your life He could see Breathing in pain Sores on His back He suffered the shame But His heart was intact He knew that His mission It must be fulfilled There was no other way Except Calvary’s hill Looking at faces His mind must have swirled He kept the joy before Him Of saving the world Strong and determined As His life blood poured out He knew it was worth it He ignored hell’s loud shout As He hung on the cross He gave out a cry As He paid for our sins Tears streamed from His eyes Love kept Him there We’ll never know How bad was His suffering The three days He was gone Paying our penalty As He hung on the cross He knew what it took To redeem all the lost So now it’s our choice To believe and receive The beautiful gift For which He did bleed So never doubt That He loves you so How willingly He gave To make you His own copyright 2013 Jean Chamblee
