Spiritual Earthquake

February 10, 2017

Sometimes we all need an “earthquake” to shake up and out of us what God needs to go….and it’s a good, good thing! Just stay in His arms and trust Him!  What remains will be of great value!

Hebrews 12:26-27
At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.”

Pt. 2 in the mini-series  “Living in The Book Of Acts”     Jean Chamblee   Passing the Torch

Hang in there! It’s gonna be okay! Even if nothing turned out like you wanted it to or thought it would….don’t give up. Even if you know you have made a mistake and there’s no turning back…don’t give up.

You see God can handle our mistakes and disappointments. He makes us some pretty awesome promises. For one example He said “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”(Hebrews 13:5) Not even if it was your fault that you are in the position you are in. God wants us to look up. Look to Him. As our GPS would say when we take a wrong turn “re-calculating”! God can still get us where He wants us if we seek Him out, admit we were wrong and humble ourselves by asking for His help!. Again, another great promise… “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up” (James 4:10)

God is greater than our mistakes, wrong turns, and just plain ole life that doesn’t go as we think it should. He is above it all and can take it all and mold it, shape it, into something valuable and good if we trust Him to.

I’ll end with another great promise:

Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Believe He can get you through with flying colors. In His hands….it’s gonna be okay. Have a great day!

“Guard your heart, for out of it flow the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23

Having disciplined thoughts is of great importance. The mind is the gateway to the soul. We must control the gate. Be careful what and who you let in. Be a gatekeeper. All the day we are assaulted with thoughts. Many go unnoticed, and yet affect us in ways that are quite powerful. The Lord gives us these words through the Apostle Paul:

2 Corinthians 10:5  “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

These days we live in are grieving to the Lord and our own souls. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit can we live as God has called us to. Only through His help can we do this and yet….it is God that decided that you and I should be born in this time and in this place. He has given us all we need to overcome. He loves to see us overcome!! Never be condemned in the struggle. If we are truly resisting ….He will give us the grace to defeat the enemies of our souls. He loves us and delights when we want to live a holy life before Him. In Christ we shall overcome!

Here is a great prayer from the Psalms:

Psalm 19:14  “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.”

The richest of treasures
to be found on the earth
Are not the things found
or regarded as worth

Treasures are truly
forged in the fire
Not easy to come by
not cheap like attire

Available to all
but rarely attained
Not too many willing
to endure all the pain

What makes up it’s value
is unique in it’s way
It cannot be stolen
it’s eternal and will stay

Branded by marks
only the Creator can give
Imprints like His
from the life that He lived

A treasure is treasure
by who values it the most
When God looks at something
and can’t help but boast

Pleased when He sees it
can’t help but smile
What He places value on
will last for a while

All that He saw
in His own beloved son
When He sees those things in us
a victory is won

Embodied in Christ
is all that He loves
It’s been given to us
like His son to become

Character like Jesus
reflected in us
Forged in the fire
changed to gold from the dust

It’s Not About Us

May 4, 2014

While we enjoy the goodness and awesomeness of becoming one with our Savior when we accept Him as Lord,  we often stop short of our purpose by becoming focused on ourselves.  In the beginning, that is appropriate as we develop our relationship with Jesus, but as we grow older our story must expand.  Like natural children, they perceive themselves as the center of the universe until they begin to grow up.  It is the same in spiritual growth. Paul says in Hebrews 5:13  “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.”  If all we seek is lightweight encouraging words, we will miss the mark of becoming what we are destined to be……a witness for others to come to know Christ.

Psalm 67:1,2 “God be merciful to us and bless us,

And cause His face to shine upon us,

THAT YOUR WAY may be known on earth,
YOUR SALVATION among all nations.”

God help us to be billboards for your existence, proof of your goodness, expressions of your love, and acknowledgements of your righteous judgements and truth. Shine Your light on us so that we can point to You!

Sometimes in our most unlikely circumstances, God is at work. It’s easy to miss what God is trying to build into us, until we take a fresh look from a new perspective…

Think about the Bible. God used a shepherd’s job to prepare David to be a protector of Israel. He defeated a lion and bear before he ever came to his challenge with Goliath. Moses was intrenched in the ways of Egypt and carried the weight of leadership (being in the kings house) which prepared him to fulfill his purpose as deliverer and leader of Israel.

For me, in one instance, God used a nasty tempered boss to teach me to begin to learn how to walk in love. When I arrived on the new job, my supervisor disliked me before I had even been there long enough to do anything wrong. I felt like I had walked into a hornets nest. I had prayed fervently for God to lead me to the right job and I knew I had been led to this one, so how could this be? I went home several times in tears as my boss continually picked on me unjustly.

I began to get angry at God because I did not understand His purposes. “How could you do this God? How could you lead me here? I’m going to just quit! ” I said to Him.  As I waited quietly I heard His quiet calming voice, “You asked me to prepare you for ministry, right?” “Yes” I said. “Well, there will be people like this everywhere you go and you need to learn how to deal rightly with this kind of situation.” He softly spoke. “ And you can leave this job if you like, but there will be the same kind of person at the next, and you can leave that one, and there will be someone of like issues there.”

So I decided to just stay at the current job and get the lesson over with instead of prolonging it. I can’t say that I was happy about it or that it got much easier, but I set my soul to learn about walking in love towards my boss. I would pray for her and forgive her attitude and work hard to have a genuine good will in my heart towards her.

Finally, after about a year, I was walking through the warehouse alone and chuckled to myself as I looked in my heart. I whispered inside to myself and God, “I really have love for her now! I truly wish her well and it is genuine inside my heart”. I honestly felt like I had overcome and even my boss had seemed to sweeten up a tiny bit. I felt such a beautiful victory!

The next day I came to work, everything was abuzz. My boss had been caught embezzling money and was fired that morning. She had already cleared out her desk and was gone. I was floored. It was as if God said, “Yes you have overcome, and the lesson is finished.” I was amazed!

I began to understand some of the workings of God in my life in a new way. The potter and the clay. He was building character in me. This situation had not been for me to be crushed or hurt, but to grow me in a very specific area. I prayed for my boss to get a new job and come to know the Lord herself. I rejoiced at the knowing in my heart that God would answer that prayer and look after her.

Looking back, I realize that it must have been her own guilty conscience that made her come against me right off the bat. It had more to do with Christ in me than me. It was an eye opening time.

So I pray that you take a fresh look at your life and see if the Master is at work. Your circumstances may not be as strange as you think they are. 🙂 Have a great day!

Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

Psalm 139: 23,24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.”

This scripture always scared me as a new believer. It took a while before I came to know God as a loving Father. I didn’t want to ask of God to search me! I thought to myself “How courageous this King David guy is! or crazy!!” How silly were my thoughts! As if God doesn’t know everything about us from each thought to the very hairs on our head. (Matthew 10:30)

After years of learning God’s ways and realizing that He ALWAYS has my best interest at heart, I slowly began to yield to His dealings. He is the potter and I am the clay. (Isaiah 64:8)

Now that I am older and see the world as the dangerous place that it is…I long to be chastened and searched. It still hurts sometimes, but it keeps me in a place of safety no matter what happens.

Psalm 91:1 “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

The very cool thing about it all that I have found, is the reward God gives when we do this! Joy! I don’t think there is anything more wonderful than to know that you have made God smile! The lifting of a weight that we did not even see is pretty awesome too!

So when you read “Search me, O God…” Realize maybe David wasn’t so crazy after all and I dare you to give it a try!! Here’s to growing in God!! 🙂  Much love
