Well I run to who You are
Then I’ll know who I am
In the arms of my Savior
I am free

For You are my looking glass
I’m created in Your mold
Someone ancient
Someone meant to be

From the womb I’ve been called
To Your purpose I’ve been hauled
Oh Lord, what plans have You for me?

As I stop to wonder on
At the power of Your son
And to think that Your son He lives in me

As You taught me from a babe
I was born to be Your slave
Sent to serve the very man that You have made

I will not seek my own
I will seek to serve Your throne
And then everything else will follow me

As I run to who You are
Then I’ll know who I am
In the arms of my Savior I am free

I am free, I am free

When all hope is lost
There You are
Shining on me like a beautiful star

Though I scream
With angers rage
Not understanding the current page

It doesn’t deter You
You can handle my pain
You never leave me, You remain the same

When my broken heart
Is bleeding mad
You stay with me, Lord, just like You said

You are not fickle
Don’t run away
Like so many others, yet You choose to stay

How can you love me
When there’s ugliness there
You look right past it, see my heart laid bare

You’d rather have an honest spit
Than a fakeness that comes
From lying lips

It’s with You Jesus
That I can get real
And not be afraid that You’ll leave me still

You’re promise is
That You will stay
And see me through another day

Your love so deep
We’ve never seen
Even when we’ve been so mean

You are not a fair weather friend
Your love so deep
That it never ends

Beyond the veil
We must go
And not be afraid our truth to show

Be it bad or be it good
You will still love us
That must be understood

Our problems seem great
But to You it’s not so
Because Your commitment is more than we know

In the morning You will be there
The price You have paid
Our sins to erase

Destiny – Poetry

July 20, 2017

I know You can see
The things that no one else can see
Things You’ve placed inside of me
Seems impossibility

But not in Your hands, But not in Your hands

Can you hear your Maker
Calling out your name
Can you feel the hand of the Potter
Carving out your life

Calling out your name,  Calling out your name

Don’t you know you have a destiny
You were born for such a time as this
Don’t run away in fear now
This is your finest hour

Destiny, destiny
What you’re meant to be
Heed the call
Destiny, destiny
Oh rise up dear one and give it your all

So sorry for the days
When I would run away
I need You, I need You

Forget about my past
And make me free at last
I need You, I need You

And I need to jump into the wind
I need to trust the arms I’m in

Never so confused
I feel I’m being used
Lord, keep me,
Lord, keep me

I know I cannot see
The plans you have for me
Lord, lead me
Lord, lead me

There was a time when I thought
That life was so secure
There was a time that I thought
That I was clean and pure

I need A Savior now I know
No matter how far and wide I grow
I need to stay at Jesus feet
I need to confess to all I need

Time to take a risk
My purpose not to miss
Please guide me
Lord guide me

The time is drawing near
For You to reappear
Make me ready
Make me ready

I need to jump into the wind
I need to trust the arms I’m in
I need a Savior now I know
No matter how far and wide I grow

Lean into the sting of things
The cutting and the knife
Let the Maker of our souls
Shape and mold our life

It’s not the pleasant things that bring
True and lasting change
But painful blows that pound our souls
With power to rearrange

Rearrange our carnal self
And bring us into light
The pounding of the anvil
Unveils and makes things right

This life it is no picnic
Our time here short and sweet
But honey comes from creatures here
That also contain a sting

If we choose not to run away
From the anvil and the sting
Let it shape our destiny
And the goodness that it brings

The beauty of the mystery
Will far outweigh the pain
As God reveals His plans for us
Our pain will bring such gain

So learn to lift your head up high
Lean into the sting
Let it shape you deep inside
God’s treasures it will bring

CANVAS – Poetry

July 11, 2017

Oh the canvas of my life
Painted pictures tell
What will eternity say
Did I live my life very well?

Did I live my life for eternity’s sake
Or just follow my own selfish whims
Going after earthly things
The light in me pretty dim

Knowing all things will be burned up
When the end of the age does arrive
Only things done in the will of God
Will have the right to survive

What have I done for selfishness sake?
What have I done for love?
One will turn into ashes
While the other gets rewards from above

Lot’s of time has been wasted
Can I now grow up and live right
Doing things for eternity’s sake
For the Lord, can I shine His true light

In Christ there is always redemption
My wasted days can turn gold
When given into the hand of God
He can give wisdom to replace what is old

Then wisdom is the gift we give
Once our eyes have true light
Living in the dark no more
We can stand up and do what is right

Fearing not the shortness of days
Making each moment count
Listening to His instructions
Understanding what life is about

When it is over we all will bow down
To the Lover of our souls
The jewels in our crown will be for Him
All along, He was the goal

Never give up
Never say die
Though the enemy tries you
He is just full of lies

There is a future
Only God can make
A special place for you
You choose to partake

Take up a hope
That God does forgive
He’s promised us often
That’s the way we should live

Be kind to yourself
Give it a rest
Stop repeating your past
Get rid of your list

Washing can come
At the foot of the cross
As we lay those things down
And count them as loss

God is on our side
Dear one can’t you see
He’s for you not against you
He wants you to be free

Free from the oppression
The sadness, the lies
That take us down daily
Puts a veil over our eyes

God still loves you
It never has stopped
Not because what we’ve done
But because of the cross

We are His children
Can always return
His arms open wide
He just wants us to learn

Return to the Father
That so loves your soul
Let Him bring healing
And in time make you whole

Sweet candy raindrops from heaven will fall
Bringing blessings unexpected for things you did not call
Things from My heart to say you are loved
A moment in time with peace like a dove

I love to spend time with you
Have so much to say
Yield over your time
Your energy, your day

Peel back the veil
Between you and Me
I am happy with your progress
You reflect what is Me

So much more to go
It will be fun you will see
As we laugh in the face
Of God’s enemies

So much strength to endow
It’s all on it’s way
You will understand now
Why things happened that way

Your life like a puzzle
Will come together again
In ways so much better
Than how it began

Come to Me, seek Me
Be with Me much
And your spirit will fly free
Where no enemy can touch.

Do we take the time to just “Selah”
To rest in the moment
To ponder the sky

To treasure the moment
The richness therein
We could just sit for hours
Much better than zen

To sit and to think
Meditate where we are
The blessings in life
What has brought us this far

Or do we allow
Our thoughts to be sold
Down the river of doubt
Where darkness takes hold

Do we surround ourselves
With radical noise
Music, T.V.
Or technologies toys

We are being so robbed
We do it ourselves
Let society dominate
It comes in so stealth

The heart of Creator
Cries out loud
All the beauty He’s made
Treasures to be found

Ignored and bypassed
For something much less
The splendor of creation
Under the rug it gets swept

Don’t let technology
Become your God
Forgetting who made you
Forgetting His love

Stop and “Selah”
You can choose to awake
Don’t be swept down the river
Of His Wonders partake

Question: “What does selah mean in the Bible?”

Answer: The word selah is found in two books of the Bible, but is most prevalent in the Psalms, where it appears 71 times. It also appears three times in the third chapter of the minor prophet Habakkuk.

There is a great deal of uncertainty about the meaning of selah. Most versions of the Bible do not attempt to translate selah but simply transliterate the word straight from the Hebrew. The Septuagint translated the word as “daplasma” (“a division”). Well-meaning Bible scholars disagree on the definition of selah and on its root word, but since God has ordained that it be included in His Word, we should make an effort to find out, as best we can, the meaning.

One possible Hebrew word related to selah is calah, which means “to hang” or “to measure or weigh in the balances.” Referring to wisdom, Job says, “The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold” (Job 28:19). The word translated “valued” in this verse is the Hebrew calah. Here Job is saying that wisdom is beyond comparing against even jewels, and when weighed in the balance against wisdom, the finest jewels cannot equal its value.

Selah is also thought to be rendered from two Hebrew words: s_lah, “to praise”; and s_lal, “to lift up.” Another commentator believes it comes from salah, “to pause.” From salah comes the belief that selah is a musical notation signifying a rest to the singers and/or instrumentalists who performed the psalms. If this is true, then each time selah appears in a psalm, the musicians paused, perhaps to take a breath or to sing a cappella or let the instruments play alone. Perhaps they were pausing to praise the One about whom the song was speaking, perhaps even lifting their hands in worship. This theory would encompass all these meanings—“praise,” “lift up,” and “pause.” When we consider the three verses in Habakkuk, we also see how selah could mean “to pause and praise.” Habakkuk’s prayer in chapter 3 inspires the reader to pause and praise God for His mercy, power, sustaining grace, and sufficiency.

Perhaps the best way to think of selah is a combination of all these meanings. The Amplified Bible adds “pause and calmly think about that” to each verse where selah appears. When we see the word selah in a psalm or in Habakkuk 3, we should pause to carefully weigh the meaning of what we have just read or heard, lifting up our hearts in praise to God for His great truths. “All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name. Selah!” (Psalm 66:4).

A THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

A THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Sometimes those who have suffered the most, have the most to give.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 “ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.

DEEP WATERS

Don’t be afraid of deep waters, my love
This journey’s been sent from heaven above
It is at Gethsemane you are purified
In ways you can’t see, so don’t try to hide

Lay it all bare, at the foot of the cross
Let His word cleanse you as you follow it’s path
Clinging to truth, let all else pass away
Let it burn up, it’s not meant to stay

Deep into the waters you go
Let Him enter in to the depths of your soul
Stirring up places where pain still remains
Let Him expose them and pour healing rain
