A Thought For The Day

October 31, 2014

Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

It is so easy to love that scripture! Much harder to walk it out. I think as human beings we like to be in control of our lives. Masters of our own little world. Sometimes we don’t realize how often we try to manipulate circumstances into the outcome we desire. This scripture admonishes us to do the opposite.

1. Pray about things, knowing that God has your best interest at heart.
2. Don’t rely solely on what you see and limit yourself to your own finite understanding.
3. Acknowledge God in everything asking for His will to be done in all situations.
4. Look for His guidance and expect Him to show you.

It is a lifelong task to try to walk in this. As I was praying the Lord’s prayer one day… and got to the part that says: “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” I wondered why I would ever pray any other way? Isn’t His way and His will always the best? Old habits are hard to break. I’m still in process and pray to keep growing in the act of surrendering to Him. Trusting in Him. I think we can never imagine the good He has for us in His will. So I’ll end with this scripture….

1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
,
the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Hope you all have an awesome day! 🙂 You are greatly loved by Him!

Not Just A Memory Verse

We can never go wrong praying this prayer….it’s powerful when you think about it….

Matthew 6:9-13

“In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

As I was re-reading the book of Esther this morning, I was thinking about how God turned the tides on the enemies of Israel. It is so amazing that the whole nation of Jews fasted and prayed for three days for God to deliver them.

God answered mightily by destroying the spirit of Haman in the land and restored them and blessed them.

I thought sadly about the American church. Of the general state of disunity and dysfunction it is in. Never in my life have I seen so many churches and pastors following a course of self absorbed ambition and a quest for natural success instead of seeking to please God. I’ve even encountered some blinded pastors that would lie, manipulate and destroy other believers just to keep their “kingdom” intact. It has grieved me to the core of my being.

There are “Hamans” in the court of the King of kings and there are “Hamans” in the world coming against the body of Christ from all sides. In God’s economy we are instructed to bless our enemies and not to curse them, which is vital. BUT we are given the blessing of coming before Christ and asking Him to deliver us from evil. I think that we can all agree….evil is coming against good in our land.

Can we as the body of Christ begin to pray and fast (if you are able) and to ask God to “deliver us from evil”? We all see it daily. But very few leaders are standing up and leading the charge to come against the evil of our day. While there are a few (and if you know them count your blessings and keep supporting them)….the voice of outcry from the church has been spotty and scattered. It takes courage…and risk…and a willingness to serve the purposes of God and not man …we all need to be involved in it.

There is no answer but God, America. There is no deliverer but Christ. We need to pray that God would first deliver the church from selfish ambitions, personally and corporately. Judgement begins in the house of God. And secondly, that He would deliver us from the Hamans of this land that want to destroy God’s people.

If you agree with this, I pray that you would pass it on and direct your prayers towards this goal.

“Deliver us from evil, Lord Jesus. Grant a wave of repentance in the churches and cleanse us from all that is not pleasing to You. Give us unity of purpose as we stand together for our nation. Give us eyes to see clearly and courage to stand up for righteousness sake. Fill us with love and gratitude for all You have given us. Give us bravery to stand against the evil tide as we wait for Your deliverance. Give us joy in the midst of the battle and love for all of our enemies. You tell us to hate what is evil…..to be angry and sin not. Help us to do that Lord and not to get bitter at those perpetrating this evil. Only You, oh Lord, can deliver us. But You are well able. Grant us hope and courage, oh Lord, and to not be ashamed of You. Give us the boldness to speak up when it is necessary and to know that You see us and rejoice when we proclaim Your Son and Your truth. Pour out revival on our land and have mercy on us, Lord.” Amen

A Sweet Soft Place To Land

October 7, 2014

So many critics
Are waiting in the wings
When all you really want to do
Is share your heart and sing

Some see themselves
As always being right
They idol their opinions
Always looking for a fight

I know that I’m just looking
For a sweet soft place to land
To find a heart like this
Is like a needle in the sand

Some are only comfortable
Upon their pedestal
So they can look down on you
Treat you like a fool

Others they must be
The flower in the room
If anyone smells sweeter
They’ll taint that ones perfume

I know that I’m just looking
For a sweet soft place to land
To find a heart like this
Is like a needle in the sand

Others always must be
The star that’s shining bright
And if their luster dims
They seek to put out all the lights

Just give me a place
Where simple hearts do dwell
With humble views about themselves
Whose heart you can unveil

I know the Bible tells us
With the lowly seek to stay
I never knew what Jesus meant
Until this very day

Oh what a treasure
A gentle heart to find
Where you can open up your soul
And know you’ll be just fine

I know that I’m just looking
For a sweet soft place to land
To find a heart like this
Is like a needle in the sand

A Thought For The Day

A THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

It’s all a matter of perspective!

We are told in many sports “Keep your eye on the ball.” I think in the following scriptures Jesus tells us the same thing. Keep our eyes fastened on Him. He is our all in all. He doesn’t tell us to ignore the things around us….on the contrary, He tells us exactly what we should be looking for. But then He guides us to where our hope and heart should be. We know the end game, if indeed we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and are born again. Heaven is our destiny, not here!

I encourage you to re-read the following passage and take it all in. Jesus held nothing back. It is His truth that will settle and keep us in this time and hour and we really have nothing to fear. Oh in truth, fearful things will surround us, but we do not need to be in dread or fear if we are in Him. He has got us!! No matter what we may endure…

I think we are still just at the beginning of it all. God’s timetable is different from ours…but He states that a generation will not pass from the time we see all these things taking place. Remember… He has us in the palm of His hand!

Luke 21:25-36

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;  men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.  When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.  So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.  Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.  For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.  Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
