FYI…..Amazing Bible Facts

Did you know that Isaiah spoke of a round earth (around 740 B.C.) , long before it was a scientifically known fact.
Isaiah 40:22 “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers…”

Did you know that there is a description of what sounds like smart bombs described in Jeremiah….where the “arrow” is ascribed intelligence instead of the shooter.
Jeremiah 50:9 “…Their arrows shall be like those of an expert warrior; None shall return in vain.”

Did you know that the Bible perfectly describes the effects of a nuclear bomb in a prophesy given by the prophet Zechariah around 520 B.C. Thousands of years before it’s invention.

Zechariah 14:12 “And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem:
Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet,Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets,And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.”

Amazing stuff! The Bible is given by the inspiration of God. He dwells outside of time (eternity) so, yes, the Bible is relevant today!

ON DEATH AND DYING

July 16, 2014

It is just after the first anniversary of one of my closest friends “going home”. I was so blessed to be able to spend one of the last weeks of her life in the hospital with her. I think I was given one of the greatest gifts of my life during that time.

We had known each other for more than a decade. I knew her successes, failures, likes, dislikes, joys, pet peeves, laughter, and griefs. But as I stood beside her bed on one of those nights we were alone….I felt God….as the Spirit of Mercy… in the strongest way I had ever encountered in my 30 + years of being with the Lord. As I stood there, it was as if all earthly things melted away. All things she had done or not done were completely eclipsed by this power of Mercy. It was just love that remained. Her love for God and His love for her. For that moment…..all things were erased and it was the loveliest feeling I had ever had.

She was ready to go and none of us wanted to see her suffer anymore, but it was still hard to let her go.

The truth of scripture was demonstrated so powerfully in that moment in time. When it all comes down. It really is getting that relationship with Christ thing right. A real relationship…..not just a little prayer one day and then off to live like the world….but a real relationship, where Jesus can say “I know you and you know me”. Where you talk to Him and share your life with Him. Do you have any idea how precious that is to Him? None of us will do “life” perfectly right and none of us will get out of here without making some royal mistakes. (that’s what the cross and 1 John 1:9 is for) But as I watched my friend prepare to leave…what mattered most in life….a relationship with our Savior and Creator…..she had gotten that right.

Heaven is real, God is real, mercy and forgiveness in Christ are real….. I pray that you all get in that right relationship with God before you go and that when it is your time or the time for a loved one to go, you can rest in peace knowing it is all real, all true.

Blessings
